proposals
so my friends, not sure whether u've heard of the current proposal ring stds:
$10k or 3 months pay - whichever is higher.
if you were the proposer, would you feel obligated to buy it jusst as a requirement to get married w/ your loved one?
would you feel it's a waste of money which could be more well-spent on something like... a house? a family car?
if you were the one being proposed to and you didn't get The Ring, would your answer still be "yes"?
...

and to answer your question: i think that stat is ridiculous. definitely would rather put money towards future house, etc.
It depends on 'The Ring'. I mean if there was one you saw and you had to have it, the simple pleasure of seeing your future wife happy would be worth the money.
Think of it this way.. it's something that's worn every single day (hopefully) until the day you die (and then passed on through generations). So what's the marginal price of how much it costs? Pennies!
BUT of course you can't really insure personal priceless property (priceless because of the sentimental value), so if you lose it you're screwed! (I saw a 'friend's' facebook status saying she lost her ring in the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii).. and then yeah, you're pretty much screwed in that case cuz finders keepers losers weepers.
Pressure on YOUR MAN now? I should tell him to read this. HAH
In my opinion, if the guy is a suga daddy and has that kind of money to spend on just an engagement ring then sure, why not. He can probably make that back very easily and won't even notice he spent 10K the week after he buys the ring.
But on the otherhand if it causes your honey to have a huge dent in his pocket and he massively must cut out things he loves to do in his life just so he can buy you THE RING, then is it worth it to cause him to struggle so a girl can have a material bling that she might lose in the Pacific Ocean? lol
i hope i can afford a massive ring so my girl gets finger cramps. That would be my goal. it's gonna be a 4 finger ring too... plow!@#
1 carat on each finger.
Seriously though, i'd rather buy her a nice car or something.
